Food Intolerance vs. Food Allergy
Physical reactions to certain foods are common, but most are due to food intolerance rather than a food allergy. These two conditions are often confused because they can produce similar signs and symptoms.
A true food allergy involves the immune system, and even small amounts of the offending food can trigger a wide range of symptoms, some of which can be severe or even life-threatening. In contrast, food intolerance typically affects only the digestive system and results in less severe symptoms.
